DC Movie Club Presents: Short Film Fest

DC Movie Club is hosting its first local filmmakers showcase! We received over 50 submissions (!) from talented filmmakers across the DMV, and somehow managed to narrow the line-up down to 9 films. From horror/comedies with ghosty girlies and possessed horses, to documentaries covering art, cultural identities, climate resilience, we've got it all.

Come for the incredible local talent, stay for the panels, socializing, and community!

What is DC Movie Club?
I'm glad you asked! DC Movie Club is a welcoming, inclusive, and (mostly) unpretentious community of movie lovers who gather for a variety of events each month around the District including movie screenings, happy hours, discussions, trivia, and more! Is this event free?
We aim for most events to be low/no cost to ensure maximum accessibility. Short Film Fest is free to attend, however, please consider making a small donation in lieu of a ticket to help cover the costs of putting on the event. Thank you so much for your support!

What can I expect?
An afternoon of good films and good company. There are three themed blocks of films, along with short panels/Q&As with some of the filmmakers. Penn Social is a full service bar and restaurant, so feel free take advantage of the menu during the event!

What time should I should I show up?
Doors will open to the public at 2:00PM, with the event starting promptly at 2:30PM. Please be sure to arrive with enough time to find a seat and get situated. We have a full schedule and plan to stick to it!

Can I come if I don't know anyone/haven't been to an event before?
Of course! DC Movie Club is a welcoming community and people show up solo to events all the time! We'll have a team of people there to greet you and ensure you settle in well :)

How late will this go until?
The shorts programming will run until 6:00PM, after which you are encourage to hang out and socialize/network/drink with each other and the any filmmakers who decided to hang back!
