Summer Workshops at The Green Barn by Debs Stott
Workshop 1: The practice of moodling
Step out of overthinking and into a different way of working by learning how to notice what already holds your attention. You’ll leave with a simple, repeatable practice that helps ideas emerge naturally - without forcing them. A different way of paying attention. A way back into your own experience of the Island.
Participants spend two hours following curiosity through the Glasshouse, discovering that attention creates meaning, and leave knowing that this practice has a name: Moodling. 🌿
Focus: I can notice
Core
- Attention over thinking
- Instinctive response

Who is this for?
This is for you if you’ve been feeling a little disconnected - from yourself, your creativity and you’re not entirely sure how to find your way back to yourself.
You might feel full of ideas, thoughts or experiences, but unable to see how they fit together. Or you may simply be fed up with trying to think your way through things and are looking for something more experiential and grounded.
This is not about being “creative” in a particular way. It’s for anyone curious about paying attention differently, and discovering what becomes possible when you begin to trust what you notice.
Do I need to prepare anything?
No preparation is needed. Just bring a notebook, a pen, and a willingness to slow down and pay attention.
What can I expect?
- A gently guided session lasting around 2 hours
- A calm, welcoming space where you can slow down and focus your attention
- Simple practices that help you notice what draws you and stay with it
- Time to explore your responses through words, marks or images
- A small group setting with space for reflection, without pressure to share
What will I leave with?
You may leave with something subtle but significant.
- A sense that your attention is not random, and that what draws you has value.
- A feeling of relief as the need to figure things out begins to soften.
- A growing trust in your own responses, and a quieter way of finding direction by listening to what is already there.
- Many people leave with the feeling that something has shifted and a desire to return to this way of seeing in their everyday life.
