A Catholic school in New York City welcomes Father Flynn, who wishes to relax the institution's strict customs. However, Sister Aloysius Beauvier questions his relationship with one of the students.

Led by a titan cast of  Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams, this adaptation of a Pulitzer Prize winning play has commonly been called a "masterpiece".
