A new publication is being launched in Leixlip Library on Thursday 1st December at 7PM to mark the centenary of the Battle of Pike’s Bridge/Grangewilliam. This significant Civil War military encounter was the last “battle” that took place in County Kildare. It resulted in the death of one National Army soldier and the consequent execution of five anti-Treaty volunteers. This publication by local historian Seamus A. Cummins is supported by the County Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Decade of Centenaries 2012-23 initiative.
