The de Havilland Aircraft Museum was the first aviation museum in the UK – 2025 is the museum’s 66th anniversary.
Based at Salisbury Hall, the site of the de Havilland Aircraft design office from 1938, it is where the iconic DH 98 Mosquito was designed and the first 5 prototypes were built. Today the collection includes the very first of those prototypes plus a further two wartime Mosquitos, the restored fuselage of a Mk1a Comet, the world's first Jet Airliner, and another 20 iconic de Havilland aircraft.
The Museum exists to showcase the innovation, ingenuity and expertise of the de Havilland company and to remind present and future generations of the outstanding role the company and the people of Hertfordshire played in the development of world aviation.
The museum is a not-for-profit charity (No. 286794) run almost entirely by volunteers. All income from admissions, shop, café and everything else on site goes towards the operation and upkeep of the museum and the conservation of its artefacts and exhibits. It is the proud holder of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for volunteer groups.
