The Young Vanish perform music from the Lost In Translation motion picture soundtrack
Released 21 years ago, Sofia Coppola’s ‘Lost In Translation’ is an adored cinematic masterpiece – beautiful, melancholic, often funny, occasionally problematic, and back on Netflix. Equally masterful is the soundtrack album, re-released as an expanded Record Store Day edition this year, and a major contributor to the resurgence of the shoegaze genre.
Built around tracks from Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine, other artists include Air, Death In Vegas, Squarepusher and Phoenix, with critics referring to the soundtrack as the third star of the film. For many people, Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain will forever be linked to the question of what Bob says to Charlotte in the final scene of the film.
For this performance, The Young Vanish are taking on the not-inconsiderable challenge of recreating this modern classic as a genre-defying live performance. Spanning acoustic fragility through to full-spectrum wall-of-sound, tracks will be treated with a mix of reverence and reinterpretation to create an unmissable, one-off show.
Site Nonsite
Site Nonsite creates what Electronic Sound magazine describes as “eerily beautiful experimental compositions”, attracting remixes by 99LETTERS, Karen Vogt, Veryan, Paul Cousins and others. Between May 2022 and October 2023, Site Nonsite released a series of EPs recalling his experiences in Japanese cities and is currently making responses to a dramatic place much closer to home. We’re delighted to present his first home-town performance.
Eleanor McGregor
Eleanor has been making music in Nottingham for a few years and her debut album Humour Me came out in March 30th this year, with a launch show at Rough Trade and plays on BBC Introducing.
Van Allen
Our guest selector for the evening is Van Allen, an original acid house survivor, semi-reformed terrace casual, and explorer of undiscovered sonic spaces.

Donation tickets?
£donation tickets = donate what you want / can / your choice
Most shows have a fixed ticket price, so why do we do £donation tickets, and how much should you donate?
First, Delia is a “for love” thing… like many independent music ventures it costs the founders money and time, and we’re fine with that. We’re here to put music we believe in out into the world, both on record and live, and we love the possibility, the opportunity, the creation of something new, the people, connections and moments of chance… …it’s a risk, but that’s part of the joy.
It’s a risk for the audience too. We’re asking you to step out of the corporate gig machine (always hard, especially in Nottingham) and roll the dice on the unknown and unfamiliar that might suck, or might be great. People say we’ve been great so far, but this is an experiment, we’re putting our faith in the magic of the musical universe. Sounds like hippy bullshit, but that comes with the territory of something called a Happening.
Secondly, we need to pay our venue and tech, and we want to pay our performers at least expenses and minimum wage, hopefully market rate. Anything left over helps for next time. And we’re pushing against a world where the tech industrialists want you to think of music as valueless “content”. Excuse us, but no thanks. This is where you come in...
We’d love you to come. We’d really love you to come if live music is normally outside your budget by grabbing a free ticket. By the time of our next Happening, we could be toasting the end of a government who’ve trashed people’s ability to both create and afford to enjoy culture, among many other things. So, if a free ticket gets you through the door, we’re delighted…
…but this relies on some generosity. Our average donation is £9.50, but that doesn’t mean most people donate £9.50, or that’s what we expect.
Some people put in more than £15, and we salute you, you’re holding the door open for others. Plenty put in a fiver which is cool, but if a fiver is a stretch, we’d prefer you to donate less, or come for free. Alternatively, if you spend a tenner a day on coffee, think about the power of contributing a bit more.
Your choice, no judgement, all love from Delia.
