Be among the first to get a glimpse of Delta Stageworks Theatre's Kirkland House, A Living History Tour before its official September 27 performance!
Presented by Delta Stageworks Theatre as part of Culture Days 2026 this special one-hour ‘Backstage Rehearsal’ offers audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process as the 10-member cast and crew rehearses for their upcoming presentation inside the beautifully restored house managed by the Kirkland House Foundation..
Tickets are free, but reservations are required.
Travel back to Delta's early settlement years as six actors bring to life members of the Kirkland family and a Chinese-Canadian farmworker whose stories span the 1870s through the 1930s. Inspired by the Kirkland family archives, the Delta Archives and the history of British Columbia's Chinese-Canadian community, this immersive theatre experience entertains while offering insights into Delta’s multi-cultural settlement.
Watch actors in rehearsal with directors, learn how archival material becomes scripted into a story, learn about the Kirkland family who lived in the house and see how site-specific theatre is created.
Before or after the event, Kirkland House volunteers will be on hand to introduce visitors to the ongoing preservation of the property, including the historic farm equipment display shed.
Visitors are also encouraged to enjoy the BC Culture Days Kickoff celebrations taking place from 10 AM to 2 PM at the House and nearby Harris Barn; hosted by the City of Delta.
