The evening features a talk with Sir Bob about his life and how he came to use the arts/music for social humanitarian justice and a Q & A after his talk.
Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his work in organising Band Aid
and other concerts that raised millions of dollars for starving people
in Africa, Irish rock star, author and political activist Bob Geldof
rose to prominence as lead singer of the Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats.
Geldof is widely recognised for his activism, especially anti-poverty efforts concerning Africa with Band Aid and Live Aid.
Geldof currently serves as an adviser to the ONE Campaign, founded by
fellow Irishman Bono, and is a member of the Africa Progress Panel
(APP), a group of ten distinguished individuals who advocate at the
highest levels for equitable and sustainable development in Africa.
Bob Geldof is a recipient of the Man of Peace title which recognises individuals who have made "an outstanding contribution to international social justice and peace", among numerous other awards and nominations.
