Taught by a licensed North Carolina dental hygienist, the course combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training. Students will gain confidence in dental morphology, periodontal anatomy, handpiece use, polishing agents, and infection control.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- Demonstrate safe and effective coronal polishing techniques.
- Understand the difference between coronal polishing and prophylaxis.
- Meet North Carolina’s requirements for coronal polishing certification.
- Earn a certificate documenting their competency, allowing them to perform coronal polishing under dentist supervision.
Why This Course Matters:
Coronal polishing is a high-responsibility role that strengthens a dental assistant’s connection to clinical dentistry. Graduates not only enhance their earning potential but also become more integral to the dental care team — working closely with hygienists during preventive appointments and assisting dentists during treatment planning.
