Abilio at 70 is a one day symposium (in-person and online) at King’s College London on Thursday 30th May 2024 to celebrate the playwriting career of Cuban writer Abilio Estévez – a career that spans some 30 years from La verdadera culpa de Juan Clemente Zenea (1984) to El gran circo (2023). Abilio will be guest of honour and there will be talks, panels and interventions during the day. In the evening there will be a rehearsed reading of Abilio’s recent play Las palomas y El General, in a new English translation by Kate Eaton and directed by Sue Dunderdale.

This is part of a two-day celebration of Cuban theatre. To sign up for day 2, Out of the Wings Presents Greek Tragedy from Cuba, please visit: https://buytickets.at/departmentoflanguagesliteraturesandcultures/1257952
