Gus Zogolovitch: learning through adversity
Gus Zogolovitch: learning through adversity
Need help?
Our next speaker is Gus Zogolovitch, Developer Collective co-founder, whose Blenheim Grove development in Peckham Rye has just been awarded an RIBA London Award.
Gus’s talk will focus on the many challenges he faced throughout the project, including raising the finance and the development process which was further complicated by Covid.
Innovative in both design and house type, the seven split-level custom build flats and houses were also built as ‘shell only’ homes allowing purchasers to take on the fit out themselves according to their budget and taste.
"This was a painfully difficult but ultimately very rewarding project for me. As far as I know, we were the first people to deliver new build shells in the UK. I'm thrilled that the project was recognised by the RIBA and delighted that the occupants have made such different homes for themselves"
Amanda Baillieu and Gus Zogolovitch set up Developer Collective in 2018 to teach professionals how to become design-led property developers and give them the contacts and resources to deliver their projects. Their book How to be an Architect Developer was published in September '23.
The talks are aimed at architects who would like to know more about the opportunities and challenges around being an independent developer, including spotting creative solutions that a non-architect developer will often miss.
The talk will be followed by networking drinks and nibbles.
