As our THIRD evidence session for the Northern Culture 'Untapped' Inquiry, we will bring in an expert panel to give evidence and cover the following questions;

  • Who’s in charge of driving cultural capital and should it be fully devolved or balanced with national oversight?
  • Are devolved powers a problem or a solution for cultural leadership?
  • Can Mayors and Combined Authorities do more to embed culture in their local plans and economic growth strategies?
  • How can Mayors work with each other and with national bodies (DCMS, Arts Council England) more strategically?
  • Does a fully devolved North risk greater competition between regions or strengthen collaboration over the need to invest in the North’s cultural economy?
  • How can rural and smaller towns benefit, fairly, from devolved cultural powers and untap their potential and talent pipeline?
