Hi all

We invite you to attend the Network of Environmental Educators in Devon (NEED) Winter event! Lots of opportunity to network with colleagues and hear about some of the current projects happening in Devon at the moment. If you are not yet a member of NEED please fill out the form here to become one!

NEED brings together a large and diverse network of practitioners including local government, schools, further and higher education institutions, NGOs and local communities. The group meets regularly at venues around the county (or virtually) to share good practice and work on joint projects. The group currently acts as a network for everyone involved in education and outdoor learning and seeks to provide a coherent and co-ordinated framework of support across Devon for helping all achieve environmental awareness and sustainability development work. Here is a timetable for the day:

9:45 Arrival and refreshments

10:00-10:45 Plastic Free North Devon: Presentation and discussion opportunity. Looking at the new Ocean Explorers Project and the North Devon Vision 2030 project. They will also present the research completed with secondary schools in North Devon with around 1000 pupils. Looking at their thoughts on sustainability, their values and what they would like to see their school delivering when it comes to sustainability.

10:45-11:15 Break, networking opportunity and refreshments

11:15- 12:00 Active Devon: Exploring the role that physical activity and movement can play in supporting the environmental education agenda and youth engagement and leadership.

12:00-12:20 The Local Nature Partnership (LNP): Update on the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS)

12:20- 13:00 Lunch (bring your own) and networking

13:00- 14:00 Tour around Stover Country Park: Focusing on the Restoring Stover Park project, nature spotting and information on community action groups and volunteering in the park

14:00- 15:00 SW hub for the Climate Ambassadors: Learn more about school climate action plans but also how NEED members and organisations can feed into this and become Climate Ambassadors themselves.
