Wisdom Realizing Reality: The Heart of the Buddhist Path

with Geshe Thubten Sherab

A Special Teaching & Refuge Ceremony: "Generosity, ethics, patience, enthusiasm, and meditation are like a procession of the blind—without the eye of wisdom, they cannot find their way to enlightenment." — Je Tsongkhapa

While compassion and ethical living form the bedrock of Buddhist practice, it is wisdom realizing the ultimate nature of reality (prajñā) that cuts the root of suffering. In the Tibetan Mahayana tradition, wisdom is known as the "Mother of all Buddhas"—the indispensable perfection that transforms virtuous deeds into true liberation.

In this special weekend teaching, Geshe-la presents the Perfection of Wisdom through the accessible, progressive framework of the Lamrim (Stages of the Path). Rather than relying on dense academic debate, this session focuses on the practical contemplation of emptiness and dependent arising: understanding how things actually exist versus how our minds mistakenly perceive them.
Following the wisdom discourse, Geshe-la will confer traditional Refuge Vows, providing students the opportunity to formally establish or renew their safe direction in the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha.

Program Highlights

  • The Crown of the Six Perfections: How wisdom acts as the guiding eye for generosity, patience, and meditation.
  • Demystifying Emptiness: Unpacking dependent arising as a practical antidote to clinging, fear, and frustration.
  • The Lamrim Approach: Practical steps for integrating contemplation into everyday awareness.
  • Refuge Ceremony: An auspicious gathering to take or reaffirm Buddhist refuge in the presence of an authentic lineage teacher.
