Children’s Matinée Performance at Hatch House

Join us for a magical afternoon designed especially for families and young children, featuring a truly special, world-class ballet performance. This inspiring event offers a rare chance to experience the beauty of dance up close and to spark the imagination of the next generation.

This year’s Matinée will be hosted by James Bamford of Project Dance, alongside talented young local ballet school dancers performing live on stage.

The programme will include:

• A behind-the-scenes introduction to theatre magic, including lighting, music, and stagecraft

• Two short professional ballet performances

• A lively, high-energy finale where children are invited on stage to join in the dancing

Whether your child already attends dance classes or has never experienced a live performance before, this is a wonderful opportunity to discover the joy of ballet in a fun, engaging, and welcoming environment.

All proceeds support The Dicky Buckle Fund, which champions new work by emerging choreographers, dancers, and designers. Many of these works premiere at Hatch House before touring nationally and internationally.

Children’s Matinée Performance only: 3pm - 4.30pm

• Adult: £25

• Children (10–15): £15

Please arrive at 2:30pm to be seated promptly for a 3:00pm start. The Matinée will conclude at approximately 4:30pm, after which you are warmly invited to stay and enjoy a picnic in the grounds.

Full Dress Rehearsal of Ballet Under the Stars at Hatch House: 5.30pm - 8pm

To stay on for the full dress rehearsal of the Hatch Ballet following the Children’s Matinée performance, a family add-on ticket is available for £50 (covering up to two adults and three children).

• Family add-on (up to two adults and three children): £50

• Adult: £50

• Children (10–15): £15

• Children (under 10): £10

The full dress rehearsal will begin at approximately 5:30pm. If you wish to stay, please select the appropriate ticket option when booking. If you decide to stay on the day, payment can be made via bank transfer or cash.

Please note this is a working rehearsal for production purposes, so brief pauses or delays may occur during the run-through.

The performance takes place in a covered, open-sided marquee, so we recommend dressing warmly.

Drinks, hot dogs and ice creams will be available from the bar. You are very welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy after the Matinée.
