The first Didsbury Beer Festival was held in 2008 and has taken place annually since, including a small Didsbury Beer Festival at Home event in 2020, when there were pandemic restrictions.

In 2009 the Didsbury Beer Festival was honoured to receive the Cask Champion Award by the Stockport and South Manchester branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).

Didsbury Beer Festival is incorporated as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and has three objectives:

• to run an enjoyable community event for Didsbury;
  
• to showcase a variety of beers and cider from around the country;
  
• to generate sufficient surplus income to support local charities.
