Description
Dig Deep Improv is proud to present our Character and Scenes and 6 week Improv course culminating with a class showcase on December 12th!
In this 6 week course we will explore creating bold, memorable and multi-dimensional characters and further develop these characters through scenework. In improv, people tend to have some “go-to” character types that they use frequently, through interesting exercises and helpful feedback this course will help you expand your character range, get out of your comfort zone and to allow your characters to adapt and mould through scenes. Additionally, we will dive into how to make dynamic scenes, instilling the basic fundamentals needed to ground a scene, how to progress your scene, tactics to help us when we feel stuck and rhythm and pacing.
Each weekly session builds upon the one before and will cover a different topic or skill so that by the end of the course you will feel more confident as an improviser as well as honing valuable life skills such as communication, creative thinking, teamwork and accepting failure. If you’ve been to a Dig Deep Taster workshop you’ll find these sessions more detailed, educational and exploratory. The course is open to everyone. Improv is a very social activity and this course also offers the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a drink and some tasty food after class each week
The course will finish with an optional class showcase on December 12th at Rocas Bar where you can invite friends, family and colleagues to come along and show their support. Each week we will work towards our showcase so that you will feel prepared and raring to go by week 6. If you aren’t comfortable performing at the showcase, don’t worry - it's 100% optional and you can also decide closer to the time.
The course will run on Tuesday evenings 7-9pm from Nov 7th to December 12th in Luxembourg City. The first four classes (Nov 7- Nov 28) will take place at Oscars Bar, Grund and the final two classes (Dec 5 & 12) will take place at Rocas bar. Special early bird discount if you sign up before midnight on October 24th. Use code “earlybird24”. Places are limited so early booking is advised.
More info:
In this course we will work progressively, meaning each week’s session builds on the one before. This enables us to dig deep (see what I did there) into specific areas and reflect on our instinctive approaches. We will come together after a day’s work to be creative, spontaneous, let go of our inhibitions and have plenty of laughs together.
By the end of the course you can expect to feel more confident in initiating scenes, character work, exploring emotional depth and playing with space. Additionally, you will sharpen your foundations in improv such as effective listening, teamwork, being present, and accepting and enjoying failures. These skills can have undeniable benefits on your social, professional and day-to-day life.
FAQs
What is improv? Improv is a type of live theatre which is often comedic in form where everything that is performed is unplanned, unscripted and created spontaneously.
Do I have to attend every week? If you can attend each week that would be ideal. Of course life gets in the way though so if you do have to miss a class this is understandable
How does this course differ to your drop-in/taster workshops? The class sizes will be smaller and as it will be the same group each week meaning we can dive in straight away. Also, we will be building on skills progressively each week so there is the potential to grow, learn and improve on things faster.
Do I have to pay for the course in full all at once or can I pay in instalments? If you would prefer to pay in instalments please just contact me and we can work something out
Can I join this course if I’m not a native English speaker? Absolutely! Most of my students are not native speakers so as long as you are comfortable understanding and speaking English and have a good level you should be fine.
Can I try out your classes before I commit to this course? Yes there will be a drop-in workshop on October 23rd and a Jam on October 26th.
