Marx didn't see AI coming. In fact, in Capital, he writes that all technology just endless recombines a few basic mechanical powers. Even so, his analysis in that book, about the destructive and liberatory potentials of automation, and about the process of creation in general, can help us think through a world where everything from cancer screening to term paper-writing is increasingly being taken out of human hands.

To discuss the relationship between Marxism and technology , we are joined by Ben Burgis -  a Jacobin columnist, an adjunct philosophy professor at Rutgers University, and the host of the YouTube show and podcast Give Them An Argument. He’s the author of several books, most recently Christopher Hitchens: What He Got Right, How He Went Wrong, and Why He Still Matters

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
