Join IFTA nominated screenwriter Cara Loftus for an engaging workshop on an introduction to the craft of screenwriting. This workshop will focus on the tools you need to turn your idea into a screenplay, and how to plan your first draft.

Beginner: this workshop is for anyone who would like to know more about the craft of screenwriting and how to get started on the first draft of their screenplay.
What the workshop covers:
An introduction to screenwriting which will include a focused look at format, structure, character, sound and writing for the visual medium, alongside creating your own plan for turning your ideas into a screenplay.
What a participant can expect on the day/how the workshop will run and what they need to bring with them:
The workshop will be an engaging talk about the craft of screenwriting alongside small individual exercises to help you get started on your screenplay. Bring a notebook and pen with you for exercises and there will be worksheets you can take away.

Workshop Tutor Biography
Cara Loftus is a IFTA nominated screenwriter and Screen International Rising Star. Her debut feature film SPILT MILK (2024) won five audience awards and a jury prize during its festival run and was nominated for four IFTAs including Best Script and Best Film. For television, Cara has written on HIDDEN ASSETS (S3) and THE HARDACRES (S2). Cara began her career as a researcher in documentary, moving into the production department on films and television shows before beginning to write.

If you cancel your place on a workshop three weeks or more before the start date, you will be offered a refund, less the booking fee.
If you cancel with less than three weeks before the start of a workshop, you will not be entitled to a refund, though a refund may be offered depending on the circumstances.
Workshops require a minimum number of participants to run.
