Join the Tired Mammy Book Club for a lively, warm and refreshingly honest conversation about Said the Dead by Doireann Ní Ghríofa. Inspired by the archives of a former psychiatric hospital in Cork, this genre-defying book explores the lives of forgotten women patients and themes of memory, institutionalisation, history and the relationship between the living and the dead. Expect strong opinions and thoughtful discussion as we explore the stories, ideas and questions that have stayed with us. Not just for mammies, come along whether you're a devoted book-club member, an occasional reader or simply curious about the book.

The discussion will be hosted by Sinéad Cuddihy, founder of the Tired Mammy Book Club, an online community bringing readers together through a shared love of books. Combining honesty, warmth and a passion for reading, she has created a welcoming space where busy readers can discover new books, exchange recommendations and enjoy lively literary conversation. This is a chance to share your thoughts on Said the Dead, hear different perspectives and explore some of the fascinating questions it raises about memory, the women whose stories have been forgotten, and how we remember the past. Come along, join the conversation and enjoy reading together.

Sinéad will introduce the event and guide the discussion, creating questions and prompts to encourage conversation about Said the Dead. There'll be plenty of opportunity for the audience to share their thoughts, interpretations and reactions to the book in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
