Dishoom presents “75 Years”

On Monday, 15th August, join us for a unique evening event commemorating “75 years” of Indian Independence and the creation of Pakistan in a unique interpretation of Kavita Puri’s book Partition Voices: Untold British Stories.

Guests are invited to join us at King's Cross West Handyside Canopy at 7pm to hear from Mohindra Dhall MBE and Sarah Mohammed (speaking on behalf of her grandmother, Khurshid Sultana) as they share personal testimonies and explore the nuanced legacy Partition has had upon their family, partaking in an intimate Q&A.

Renowned musician Soumik Datta will then regale the crowd with a captivating piece of music inspired by and composed especially for the event. As the sun sets, take a seat on our long sharing tables as Chef Naved and the team cook up a communal feast, served buffet style. Expect favourites such as Keema Pau, Pau Bhaji, Chicken Ruby, Mattar Paneer, Jackfruit Biryani, signature House Black Daal, Kala Chana Salad and Garlic Naan, with Basmati Kheer to finish.

Tickets are £30 and include live speakers and performances alongside a sumptuous Dishoom buffet (drinks are not included in the ticket price).

Kindly note:– Our King’s Cross event is not taking place in our café, but nearby at the covered outdoor area of King’s Cross West Handyside Canopy, just a four-minute walk from Dishoom (duly note this is a public thoroughfare). All seating is unallocated. We recommend arriving early to secure your preferred spot at our sharing tables.

• This event is not happening at Dishoom King’s Cross, and will be held nearby at King’s Cross West Handyside Canopy, kindly note this is an outdoor, covered venue.
• Due to the nature of this event, it may not be suitable for children aged 12 years or younger. All guests, including children, require a full-priced ticket to attend.
• Vegan and gluten-free options can be made available, please email us at events@dishoom.com to let us know of your requirements. Unfortunately, we may not be able to cater for all dietary requirements and allergies.
• Drinks are not included with your ticket. Select softs, wine and beer may be purchased on the evening at our cashless bar.
• We'll have a professional photographer and videographer roaming around, capturing the event and we may share this content on social media afterwards. If you would for any reason prefer not to be shown, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing events@dishoom.com.
• The venue is fully accessible and wheelchair friendly.
