In partnership with Arts Connection, District 25 is bringing the vibrant energy of the Caribbean right to our community. Join us for an exciting workshop where students and families will dive into the rich world of Plena, a captivating musical genre that beautifully merges diverse Caribbean traditions.

Join us for an unforgettable experience with Juan Usera & the Sambuco Tribe as they take us on a musical journey. This isn’t just a performance—it’s an interactive celebration where rhythm meets history. Participants will discover the art of Plena storytelling through lively carnival songs, work tunes, street verses, and melodic compositions. The dynamic Plena rhythm and accompanying dance share striking similarities with merengue from the Dominican Republic, mento from Jamaica, and calypso from Trinidad.

Esto no es solo una actuación: es una celebración interactiva donde el ritmo se encuentra con la historia.
