Coventry University - College of the Arts and Society

#DontWasteBuildings has organised a tour of the RIBA West Midlands 2025 Building of the Year: University of Coventry’s College of Arts & Society, the Delia Derbyshire Building

By retaining nearly 80% of the existing 1960’s facilities, the project has achieved a remarkable transformation using a new build courtyard infill to link together an eclectic set of adjacent buildings with a less is more approach to the refurbishment, concentrating on acoustics, daylight and orientation. This, combined with a dramatic reorganisation to the building has opened the University up to the city, providing a new civic space for the city and enabled the establishment to offer more for its students.

The estates team, design architect BDP and delivery architect D5 will deliver a short presentation followed by a comprehensive tour discussing the constraints, issues and design of the building, looking at how it achieved so much on a £43million budget.
