Need help?
Over the past several years, digital preservation communities and networks have developed across the globe, reflecting a wide range of expertise, focus areas, and organizational structures. As this landscape grows, it can become increasingly difficult to navigate.
To support greater visibility and transparency, nestor - the German Network of Expertise in Digital Preservation - conducts the Community Survey every three years. The survey provides a structured overview of networks active in the field and is repeated every three years to reflect ongoing developments. The 2026 iteration is now underway.
To introduce the 2026 survey and guide participants through the process, nestor is hosting an online webinar, with two sessions scheduled to accommodate different time zones:
- Wednesday 25 February, 14:00–15:00 CET for Europe/Africa/Americas-East Coast regions (check your local time)
- Friday 27 February, 06:00–07:00 CET for Australasia & Asia-pacific regions (check your local time)
What to Expect
During the webinar, participants will:
- Learn about the purpose and scope of the nestor Community Survey
- Understand how the survey helps map and strengthen digital preservation communities worldwide
- Discover how the survey results can be reused, including graphics and visualizations
- Get a preview of the new Digital Preservation Community Search database currently in development
- Receive practical guidance on completing the online questionnaire
- Take part in a live Q&A session with members of the nestor working group
The session is particularly relevant for representatives of digital preservation networks and communities, as well as professionals interested in mapping, collaborating with, and learning from digital preservation communities internationally.
We warmly invite you to join one of the sessions and learn how your community can contribute to - and benefit from - the 2026 nestor Community Survey.
