Join us at Drawn Studio for an enriching watercolor class led by the internationally acclaimed artist and seasoned instructor, James Wu. With over twenty years of experience teaching at the University of Missouri St. Louis and community colleges, James will impart his unique and professional techniques to students. Under his guidance, you will embark on a creative journey through five distinct painting projects, each carefully crafted to explore the diverse techniques of watercolor painting. From mastering basic techniques like washes and wet-on-wet applications to delving into advanced methods such as layering, glazing, and dry brush techniques, you will uncover the incredible possibilities of this captivating medium. Through step-by-step instructions, you will learn to create gradients, textures, and experiment with different media like masking and resist techniques, culminating in the completion of a final watercolor masterpiece. Immerse yourself in the spontaneity and joy of watercolor painting as you discover the artistry and beauty this medium has to offer.

Watercolor Class Outline: (5 Projects)

April 12 - Introduction and Demo to Watercolor Pencil Painting  - Introduction to materials and tools

April 19 - Basic watercolor techniques (wash and wet-on-wet)  - Color theory and mixing

April 26 - Advanced Watercolor Techniques (wet-on-dry)  - Layering and glazing

May 3 - Dry brush techniques - Creating gradients and textures

May 10 - Exploring Different Media - Masking and Resist Techniques - Completing a final watercolor painting

Class Policy:

Cancellation Policy: Drawn Studio reserves the right to cancel, combine, or reschedule classes to adjust for enrollment. If Drawn Studio cancels a class, you may transfer to another class or receive a full refund.

Refund Policy: Notice of withdrawal from a workshop must be made at least 14 days prior to the start of the class. No refunds will be given for withdrawals made after that time. No refunds or credits will be given for classes missed due to illness, personal conflict, or other reasons. There are no exceptions to this policy.
