Discover the Art of Water Media: Exploring Watercolor and Acrylic Techniques
This five-week class focuses on acrylic and watercolor media on canvas. Throughout the course, you'll work on four projects designed to teach you professional techniques for creating compelling and expressive paintings.
In this class, you will:
- **Experiment with Techniques**: Learn fundamental and advanced techniques for both watercolor and acrylic, including washes, glazing, texture creation, and layering.
- **Combine Mediums**: Discover innovative methods to blend watercolor and acrylic, unlocking new creative possibilities and achieving unique effects.
- **Express Your Vision**: Develop your personal artistic style through guided projects and individual feedback, allowing your creativity to flourish.
Whether you prefer the fluid, transparent qualities of watercolor or the bold, vibrant strokes of acrylic, this class offers a comprehensive approach to mastering both mediums. Unleash your inner artist and create beautiful, expressive works in our supportive and inspiring environment.
Water Media Painting Outline: (4 Projects):
October 12 - Glazing Techniques: Students will explore the art of glazing, applying thin layers of transparent or semi-transparent paint over a dry underpainting. This technique creates depth, luminosity, and subtle color transitions, allowing students to build up layers for rich, complex colors and a polished finish.
October 19 - Pet Portrait: Focus on capturing the likeness and personality of a beloved pet. Learn techniques for rendering fur, feathers, and other textures, and convey expression and emotion in the eyes, creating a lifelike portrait that reflects the unique character of the animal.
October 26 - Skin Tone Study: Study the complexity of human skin tones by mixing and applying paint to create realistic and varied hues. Emphasis will be placed on understanding undertones, highlights, and shadows to achieve a natural and convincing representation of skin.
November 2, 9 - Surrealism Painting: Dive into Surrealism, blending reality with dream-like elements inspired by the subconscious. Develop a unique visual language, experiment with composition, and express concepts that challenge conventional perceptions.
