Drift Pro Dance and Movement - Milton Keynes - Anna Watkins

Join us for our inaugural Drift Pro Dance class in Milton Keynes!

Drift Pro classes are designed for dance and movement artists including performers, creatives and teachers who have trained vocationally or are currently training vocationally and who are 18 years of age or older. The classes may be fast paced and offer physical challenges.

When booking your first class, please add the £1 new member joining fee - you only need to pay once between now and 31st August 2025.

This class will be led by the wonderful Anna Watkins.

What to expect:

Anna’s class is based on physical and technical training, including influences from classical, Cunningham and Graham techniques. Anna takes a stamina and strengthening approach to class, while building a grounded and technical foundation?

Anna's Biography:

Trained at Rambert School.

19-year professional performing career, Anna has worked with dance companies & choreographers Taira Foo, Shobana Jeyasingh, Phoenix Dance Theatre (CC Lab), Tavaziva Dance, Motionhouse, Oceanallover, Thea Barnes, Neville Campbell, Harriet Macauley & more.

Anna has toured her 13-year independent company work 'Watkins Dance Company' in the UK & Internationally by funding & commissioning organisations Arts Council England, East London Dance, Swindon Dance, The Garage, DanceEast, South East Dance, awarded Associate Artist (2017-2018) Swindon Dance.

Anna has led professional company classes in the UK and internationally for companies such as Rambert, Tavaziva Dance, Żfin Malta National Dance Company of Malta, NDCWales National Dance Company Wales, Phoenix Dance Theatre (UK & South Africa) and Jazzart Dance Theatre South Africa, Cape Town.

Rehearsal Director 2021 – 2022 working on the development process of a newly formed company in Wales, following a commission as choreographer to create a new work '24HR' for the Triple Bill world premiere.

in August 2022 Anna worked with Soul City Arts for production 'Waswasa' as Movement Director, creation by Mohammed Ali, Birmingham Hippodrome as part of Birmingham Festival, Commonwealth Games.

In 2023 awarded Arts Council England funding for DYCP ‘Over 30’ project.

Recently freelance Rehearsal Director, Company Manager and Creative Assistant to the choreographer for Phoenix Dance Theatre in the UK and South Africa, Cape Town.

SHIMMER new dance film, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2024, has won 5 Awards for film festivals: Independent Shorts Awards LOS ANGELES, Beyond the Curve Film Festival PARIS, 4th Dimension Film Festival BALI Indonesia as well as being selected for enCore Dance on Film USA.
