Advanced 3D Modeling 2026 (5 Day Bootcamp)
Create Digital Twins That Tell Stories, Solve Problems, and Sell Projects.
Creating lifelike digital twins has never been more powerful — or more in demand.
From accident reconstruction to cinematic world-building, from construction rendering to virtual design coordination (VDC), the ability to capture reality and recreate it in 3D is now one of the most valuable skills in the world.
But with new software, SDKs, and workflows evolving faster than ever…
you need more than just knowledge — you need a system.
Welcome to the Drone U Complex 3D Modeling Course, a five-day immersive training experience designed for pilots who are ready to go beyond mapping — into the art and science of digital reconstruction.
Why This Class Matters
Digital twins aren’t just about visualization.
They’re about communication — showing your clients, your investors, or the government exactly what the world looks like, or could look like.
Whether you’re:
Recreating a crash scene for federal investigation,
Pitching a construction project to city planners,
Creating virtual sets for production, or
Building immersive environments in Revit or Unreal Engine…
This class gives you the technical foundation and creative workflows to bring complex sites to life with unmatched accuracy and realism.
Five Days. Infinite Possibilities.
Day 1 – Flight Mastery Refresher + 3D Foundations
We begin by sharpening your control and precision through our Flight Mastery drills.
Then we dive into the foundations of 3D modeling — understanding model anatomy, spatial overlap, and the key variables that determine accuracy and realism.
If you’ve completed Drone U’s Mapping class, you’ll feel right at home — but ready for a much steeper climb.
Day 2 – Advanced Acquisition Strategies
Here’s where things get real.
You’ll learn how to design and execute complex flight missions, including:
Orbits and facade missions
Free-flight obliques and smart angles
Double and quad grid captures
The Orbital Bubble Strategy for Gaussian splats
We’ll compare workflows across Pix4D, SiteScan, RealityCapture, and other platforms — so you’ll know exactly which tool to use, when, and why.
Day 3 – Complex Site Acquisition
Now it’s time to fly.
We’ll capture real-world, large-scale, multi-structure sites and intricate facades using advanced oblique and orbital patterns. You’ll master how to build data-rich, noise-free datasets for high-quality point clouds — and how to plan your missions to reduce drift, ghosting, and occlusion. You’ll walk away knowing how to model large buildings, dense sites, or layered environments that look and feel real.
Day 4 – Processing & Reconstruction
We’ll process your datasets in RealityScan and SiteScan Cloud, walking you through each stage of photogrammetric reconstruction. You’ll learn to align, merge, and refine complex datasets — and how to geo-reference your models for measurement accuracy. Then we’ll move into Gaussian Splats, using PostShot to convert your point clouds into cinematic, lifelike environments that you can use in Revit, Blender, Unreal, or your client’s preferred platform.
Day 5 – Final Modeling, Export, and Presentation
On the final day, you’ll bring it all together. You’ll finalize your digital twin — a high-resolution, color-accurate 3D model of your site — and learn how to:
Export deliverables for VDC, CAD, and visualization
Compare accuracy between platforms
Prepare client-ready presentations that sell your work
When you present your final model, you won’t just see your site — you’ll feel it.
What You’ll Learn
✅ Advanced data acquisition for complex environments
✅ Multi-layer 3D mission planning (quad grids, smart obliques, facades)
✅ Cloud and local 3D processing with RealityScan & Pix4D
✅ Geo-referencing and point cloud accuracy workflows
✅ Creating Gaussian Splats in PostShot
✅ Exporting for construction, VDC, and cinematic rendering
Why It’s Worth It
Because 3D modeling is the bridge between creativity and credibility.
When you can show clients or agencies what’s possible — not just what’s planned — you don’t just get hired…you become indispensable.
And when you can build both models and splats — you become unmatched.
