Drone Strategies for Search and Rescue/Disaster Response
Wed Mar 11, 2020 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CDT
Dallas, TX, 75038
Description
Join Drone U for our newest class for public safety! This class has been created and designed to assist with providing standardized operations and strategies to effectively deploy drones in disaster zones or search missions.
Drones are already making situational awareness much more simple and efficient when deployed strategically and correctly. It has never been easier to create aerial maps that aid in providing actionable intel to officers and commanders to help with:
1. Situational Awareness with Near-Real Time Updates available
2. Navigation & Logistics Planning
3. Damage Assessment & Volumetric Calculation
4. Resource Allocation planning
This addition to the Drone Mapping Boot camp is designed to aid first responders, drone operators and emergency personnel to help responsibly respond to national disasters and Search and Rescue Missions.
Managed properly, drones can help incident command with real time orthomosaics (stitched maps scaled to the earth). These maps help provide commanders with real time information to help logistically navigate roads with downed trees, power lines or other debris, and other potential obstacles.
Drone mapping will help commanders know which roads are flooded, which houses need a response and how to get there.
We've broken this course down into two unique sections that service different industry verticals:
1. Disaster Management: When hurricane's and other natural disasters strike, agencies rely on situational awareness to make educated decisions in order to properly assess asset allocation, navigation and assessment of the area. At the end of the class, a responder will have the information necessary to provide orthomosaic maps in urban environments or in areas without internet. They'll know how to share these maps on sneakernet, how to annotate them, what to annotate and how to take linear measurements that will increase the effectiveness of the mission.
Relief via Orthomosaic Construction will teach students how to use:
1. Pix4D React: students will learn how to process, export and share drone made orthomosaics.
2. Drone Deploy Live Map: when you're in a connected environment, scaling your relief efforts have never been easier with live map.
Students will walk away with a firm understanding of the practical workflow to assist in situational awareness, logistics planning and response management by creating orthomosaics from aerial, or drone, imagery.
2. Search and Rescue: Drone Operators will be taught the most common strategies when using drones for SAR missions. In addition, they'll learn how to utilize select resources to comprehensively search an area and make the operation more efficient as a whole.
Students will walk away with a firm understanding of the knowledge necessary to make decisions on which drone strategy to deploy in different flight environments.
This public safety workshop was created to educate first responders and drones pilots on the most effective methodologies and practical workflows to respond to Disasters or SAR missions.
How many lives might you save after this class?
We will never know, but if you save 1... it was worth it.
