4 Week Tea Set Course | Intermediate Level 🫖
Design, shape, and glaze your own functional tea set, complete with teapot and teacups.
Have you tried our beginner’s wheel throwing course and want to try something a bit more challenging? Over the course of 4 weeks, learn how to make your own teapot from scratch guided by our experienced ceramicists in a relaxed setting. By the end of the 4 weeks, you’ll have a fully functional tea set and the skills to keep creating. Whether you're a Barry's or Lyon's tea drinker, this tea set will make any cup taste great.
Why book in:
This course is suitable for anybody who has dipped their toe in the art of wheel throwing and has done a few workshops, or for someone who has already completed our beginner's wheel throwing course. Give yourself 2.5 hours during the week to do something creative, away from screens and onto the wheels. You can also impress your guests by offering them a cup of tea from your very own hand made teaset.
Our intermediate course is suitable for ages 18 and up due to them being a BYOB evening workshop.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Week 1: Tea Cups ☕
In the first week we will start with making the one cup and a saucer for your tea set. This will build a nice foundation for the style of tea set that you want to make, and will get you comfortable with the mixture of throwing and hand building.
Week 2: Structure 🫖
Starting with the base of the teapot, you’ll shape the main form using a combination of hand-building and wheel throwing techniques. Learn how to center, form, and hollow out your teapot while keeping design and function in mind.
Week 3: Handbuilding 🤚
This is where the challenge starts! Craft and attach your teapot’s spout, handles and begin shaping the lid. We’ll guide you through best practices for refining the shape and crafting clean lines.
Week 4: Glazing and Finishing Touches 🎨
In the last week we will prepare your pieces for glazing and will experiment with brush on glazes. Your tea set will then be processed by our processing team and ready to collect within a few weeks of finishing the course.
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
All clay, tools, and glaze materials
Expert instruction from an experienced ceramicist
Firing of one complete teapot and two teacups

PLEASE NOTE: While it's rare, there's always a small risk that pieces may crack or break during the kiln firing process due to the nature of ceramics. We take every precaution to minimise this and should any issue arise, we’ll do our best to ensure you still have a positive and rewarding experience.
We cannot offer any refunds on our courses as we need to prepare in advance for each workshop. Please do not book into the course if you cannot attend the full 4 weeks.
