Duke Street @ The Old Queen's Head, Islington

Duke Street play the music of 1930s madcap eccentric Raymond Scott, whose unique blend of catchy melodies and disorientating rhythms is sure to make you dance and smile ("Dinner music for a pack of hungry cannibals" anyone?) in equal measure. 

While largely unknown even among the jazz faithful, Scott's work has been embraced in the world of cartoons and is featured extensively in Loony Tunes, Ren and Stimpy, Spongebob Squarepants and The Simpsons. Don't miss this often-overlooked part of jazz's vibrant legacy.

Led by Tom Mawby and featuring the incredible vocal talent of London Jazz singer, Talia Cohen, join this 22-piece band for a night of Raymond Scott, as well as a modern selection of big band swing, latin and funk.
