October holidays Forest School - 15th & 16th October

Over the October half term, this is a Forest School running at the Mountainhall Greenspace (by the old hospital). It is a 2 day session - starting at 10am and finishing at 3pm both days. It is open to children aged 7 to 12 years-old. The Forest School is free, but we ask for a £5 deposit per child to help avoid people booking a place and then not attending. The deposit will be refunded after the end of the Forest School.

More info about the Mountainhall Greenspace on the community padlet here and on the Propagate website here.

What is Forest School?

Forest School is all about kids playing outdoors, in nature, having a laugh and building their confidence. Your child will get to climb, build dens, play in mud, play games, splash in puddles, hunt for minibeasts, and use tools to make things. We will make shelters, so we can enjoy being outside in the rain. Every session is run by qualified and experienced Forest School leaders who keep the bairns safe, but also give them the freedom to explore, take wee risks, and figure things out for themselves. It's not about sitting still and being told what to do - it's about children leading their own play and having their own adventures.

Why is it good?

Forest School helps children grow and learn in new ways - it builds their confidence, teaches them to work together, helps them deal with their feelings, and gets them fit and healthy without them even noticing. Children get to learn about the real world, away from screens, playing with conkers and pine cones and being creative in the outdoors.

We will have an event photographer joining us for this session. Photographs and small (bite sized) videos will be taken throughout the day. These pieces of documentation will be used online, for promotion for similar events, and to showcase to funders and stakeholders. Documentation may be used by Climate Kitchen, Mountainhall Greenspace Community, Propagate, D&G NHS, and the Forest School leaders Lusi and Poppy. We will also send parents copies of any footage.
We will ask you for your consent at the checkout form on the next page. There are options to not have faces shown / only from afar / not at all.
