This event is NOT a criticism of B Corp, but we shall look at an alternative and consider the pros and cons of each certification option.
Jill Poet is CEO of the Organisation for Responsible Businesses CIC (ORB). She normally hosts the Double Whammy events but, on this occasion, she will also be delivering a short presentation with a Q&A to follow.
ORB launched in 2010 as a membership organisation for responsible micro, small, and medium-sized businesess.
In 2011, ORB launched the Responsible Business Standard (RBS), a broad-based, onsite auditable certification validated by Anglia Ruskin University and designed specifically for small businesses, including micro-businesses with no employees.
In 2021, the RBS moved online in the form of a course with various certification options from a basic CPD option (20 hours accredited CPD hours) to the Responsible Business Standard certification, assessed via a robust, online, evidence-based process to achieve RBS Lite.
Any company with 5 or more employees wishing to achieve FULL Responsible Business Standard certification is additionally required to have an onsite visit to assess the culture of the organisation, something that can only be evaluated during a face-to-face process. Businesses with 0-4 employees are exempt from an onsite visit if they wish to upgrade but are required to have a Zoom meeting to agree ongoing development plans with one of the auditors.
If you are a small business (0-49 employees) and would like to find out if the Responsible Business Standard is an appropriate certification option, do join us for great networking and an interesting discussion.
The essence of Double Whammy Networking for Responsible Businesses is supporting each other and supporting a better way of doing business. And, as always, with Double Whammy events, sales will raise funds for local charities, in this instance via the donation option.
Tickets are just £2 each with an optional charitable donation. There will be a ‘prize draw’ and one delegate will have the opportunity to nominate a local charity of their choice to benefit from this month's charity pot.
The Charity Pot
At each event, we will do a visual draw and the winner of that draw will be able to nominate a local charity of their choice (NOT a national charity) to receive all funds from that event's charity pot. We will pay funds directly to that charity, normally within 10 days of the event, and details will be recorded on the Double Whammy website.
The Draw Winner
The draw winner will be able to give a 5-minute presentation about their business and, if they wish, tell us a little bit more about their chosen charity.
Rooms
During the course of the event, we will be deploying the Room option with delegates allocated to specific rooms of 3 to 5 delegates. Those of you who have attended Zoom meetings utilising this facility will know what a great opportunity this is to get to know more about the delegates in your group.
