Adult Dyslexia Peer Network
We are excited to announce the launch of our Adult Dyslexia Peer Network - a safe, supportive, and empowering space created by and for adults who identify with a dyslexic profile. You don’t need to have a formal diagnosis; if you see yourself in the dyslexic experience, and are a member of Dyslexia Ireland, you are welcome to participate.
The Adult Dyslexia Peer Network aims to create a space where adults with dyslexia can come together to share experiences, explore challenges, and celebrate strengths. Each meeting will offer opportunities for open discussion, reflection, and connection. The first meeting will be held on June 17th at 5pm in our Dublin office.
Who It’s For
- Adults (18+) who identify with a dyslexic profile.
- No formal identification is required.
- Those seeking understanding, community, and empowerment.
- Attendees must be current members of Dyslexia Ireland.
Aims and Learning Outcomes: By taking part in these meetings, participants will:
- Connect with other adults who share similar experiences.
- Develop greater understanding and self-awareness around dyslexia.
- Explore tools and strategies for self-advocacy and empowerment.
- Gain confidence in discussing and embracing dyslexic strengths.
- Contribute to a growing community of support and shared learning.
Format and Location: Meetings will be held in person at Dyslexia Ireland’s offices in Dublin. Places are free and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
Frequency of Meetings: We aim to facilitate these meetings every 2 months. Attendees may come to one or several meetings. Each meeting will need to be booked separately.
Date and Time of the First Meeting: 17th June 2026 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Further dates will be announced in the coming months.
Group Size of Meetings: The meeting will consist of a small group of up to 12 participants. Therefore, we expect meetings will book up quickly. If you book and are then unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can make a spot available to someone on the wait list.
Further Info: Please get in touch with Caoimhe at comalley@dyslexia.ie if you have any questions about this peer network.
Adult Dyslexia Peer Network – Ground Rules & Boundaries
This will be a space where adults with dyslexia can connect, share experiences, and learn from each other. To keep this community safe, helpful, and positive, here’s what we ask:
Focus on dyslexia.
- Share tips, strategies, or experiences related to dyslexia. This group isn’t for discussing personal trauma, medication, or unrelated issues.
Be kind and respectful.
- Listen to each other, give everyone a chance to speak, and offer support rather than judgment.
Celebrate progress and share solutions.
- We aim to be positive and solution-focused. Talk about what’s worked, what you’ve learned, and encourage one another.
Respect privacy.
- What’s shared here stays here. Confidentiality helps everyone feel safe.
- No recording or photography is permitted.
This isn’t therapy.
- Our facilitators are peers, not counsellors. For sensitive personal issues, please reach out to a qualified professional.
Take care of the space.
- Be present, avoid distractions, and help make this group welcoming for everyone.
Acknowledgement
By joining this group, participants agree to honour these ground rules and create a supportive, respectful, and positive environment for all members.
