Dr Anna Sadnicka
Anna is a Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and a Wellcome Trust Early Career Researcher at Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit. Her award-winning research combines behavioural experiments, electrophysiology, and computational models to shed light on dystonia mechanism. Anna has a particular emphasis on translating her research into novel movement retraining and neuromodulation strategies. Much of her research builds on ideas that have been sparked after conversations with individuals with dystonia. She looks forward to the opportunity of discussing the cerebellum and dystonia.
Dr Hortensia Gimeno
Dr Hortensia Gimeno is a Clinical Academic Occupational Therapist and works as an Associate Director of Therapies Research at Barts Health in East London. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University London with a strong ambition to improve the care of children and young people with movement disorders. She has 25 years of clinical experience and has achieved international recognition despite a lack of protected research time throughout her career. Dr Gimeno's work includes pioneering a rehabilitation intervention called the Cognitive Orientation to Occupational Performance (CO-OP), for children and young people with movement disorders. She started this project during her doctoral fellowship from the National Institute of Health Research which took place from 2014 to 2017. Her research was amongst the first in the field of rehabilitation for movement disorders. Dr Gimeno also sits on a number of boards including the International Cognitive Approaches Network Board of Directors, a Patient-driven Platform Network (https://mybrainnet.eu/advisory-board/), the neuro-rehabilitation working group for the European Reference Network for Rare Neurological Disorders and nationally, the British Academy of Childhood Disability Strategic Research Board.
