The event is designed to empower Early Career Researchers (ECRs) interested in exploring professional opportunities outside the traditional academic path. This in-person gathering will promote networking, knowledge-sharing, and self-reflection. These will enable participants to better understand their own career potential and the diverse opportunities available beyond academia and at the interface and academia and policy/practice.
The day will begin with a facilitated career development workshop, which will guide participants to identify their research skills, recognise existing organisations of interest, and explore the wider professional landscape beyond academia. This exercise, revisited at the end of the event, will ensure that attendees leave with a concrete and personalized roadmap for their career aspirations.
The event will feature two engaging panel discussions. The first panel will highlight alternative career paths, featuring professionals who have successfully transitioned from academia to other fields. The second panel will focus on bridging academia and industry. It will feature experienced individuals who will offer insight on how to integrate research expertise into non-academic sectors.
By the end of the day, attendees will have engaged in meaningful discussions, expanded their professional networks, and gained actionable insights to manage their professional futures outside of academia with confidence.
