Practice Research Networking Day (South West ECRs only)
Wed 26 Oct 2022 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM BST
University of Plymouth
Description
The British Academy Early Career Researcher Network brings together ECRs across the humanities and social sciences disciplines, regardless of their funding source or background.
The Practice Research Networking Day will bring together South West based early-career researchers with an interest in practice research. The aim of the event is to encourage networking, offer space for discussion on practice research and identify strategic goals for the community. It will also encourage new collaborations and initiatives in the network.
Practice research is defined broadly as research involving forms of practice as part of its methodology and/or outputs. While it is often used to cover creative and performance subjects (e.g. Music, Drama, Creative Writing, etc.), we are also interested in hearing from Humanities researchers in other fields (e.g. Languages, Linguistics, Law, Philosophy, History, Anthropology, etc.) who may use aspects of practice in their work. We want to explore the breadth of the field and flesh out potential connections and collaborations between disciplines with a common interest in the methodology.
The event will feature sessions on networking, articulating practice research and strategic aims for the South West practice research community. Finally, there will be an opportunity for participants to demonstrate and discuss their own research. The sessions will encourage active participation and discussion.
