The British Academy Early Career Researcher Network brings together ECRs across the humanities and social sciences disciplines, regardless of their funding source or background.

Aim: The BA ECR Network South West Hub Summit is an opportunity for members to reconnect with peers, reflect on the networks’ activities to date and discuss how you would like the network to develop going forward. Included in the day will be opportunities to join facilitated discussions, relevant to your areas of research, to help you form new peer connections, develop collaborative projects and get support with upcoming BA funding opportunities to get those projects started.

Opening address by Professor Julie Barnett (University of Bath) with special message from Professor John Strachan (Bath Spa University) outlining how the BA ECR Network supports SHAPE research and researchers, intrinsic to solving modern global challenges.

The BA ECR Network South West Hub – Our story so far

  • A panel session that examines the support the BA ECRN South West Hub has provided to ECRs in the region to inspire new research and professional development activity.

Our shared research interests – a facilitated networking session

Join peers from across the region to build your networks and discover new collaborative and interdisciplinary research ideas. Participants will be given the opportunity to explore multiple themed interdisciplinary tables chaired by senior academics to understand where their research interests overlap and how they might go about forming new projects.

Facilitated networking feedback session

Hear about the discussions across the facilitated networking session to better understand where potential research projects might emerge and learn how seed funding or development fund opportunities might support these projects.

Revisiting your priorities for the BA ECR Network South West Hub

A round table session to ensure that the BA ECR Network South West Hub priorities are calibrated to the needs of its community. Participants will hear from BA ECRN South West Hub ECR Advisory Board members on their reflections of Hub priorities while being offered the opportunity to shape Hub priorities going forward.
