The Polish Renaissance
The Golden Age of early Polish composers was in the 16th and early 17th centuries. Initially focused in the southern city of Krakow, local omposers followed the traditions of Roman and Venetian motets and the mass but with a special flavor of the East and often with Polish texts. We feature works by Jarzębski, Pekięl and the greatest of the early 17th century polyphonic masters at the royal chapel in Warsaw, Mikolaj Zieleński.
