An ESEA Heritage Month Gathering

Ely · Sat 5 September · Ely Museum · 10:30am–1:00pm

2.5 hours · Women only · 12 places

There is a moment in the Chinese solar calendar called 白露 — White Dew.

🌿 Summer finally softens. The first dew appears at dawn. Things hidden become visible.

This morning asks one question: what becomes visible when we slow down?

✂️ KIRIGAMI · The Art of Cutting Away

Kirigami is a traditional East Asian paper-cutting practice. You'll fold, then cut — and as the paper falls away, a pattern is revealed that was there all along.

Before the final cut, you'll be invited to name something you're ready to let go of. You don't need to say it aloud. Just feel it. And when you're ready — cut.

The cutting is also a settling practice. The hands work, the mind quietens. Some women go very still inside. Some find things they didn't expect to find. Both have their places.

🍵 TEA

Two cups hold the morning — one to arrive, one to close. Seasonal, warming, chosen for the beginning of 白露 White Dew.

🌿 A DEEPER CLOSE

This gathering goes a little deeper than my usual mornings. We close in a circle — one quiet question, and a small intention you'll speak aloud if you choose to. There's space to reflect, to be gently witnessed, and to leave with something clearer than you arrived with.

THIS GATHERING IS FOR YOU IF

You're curious what happens when you slow your hands enough for your mind to follow.

Something in your life is quietly asking to be released — and you'd like a gentle way to mark it.

You want to experience living ESEA seasonal wisdom — not as a concept, but as a morning you actually lived.

You'd love to make something beautiful without needing to be an artist.

YOU'LL LEAVE WITH

Your own kirigami piece — cut by your hands, holding what you released.

A small tea recipe and your noticing card.

A quieter mind and one clear intention for the season ahead.

Pauline grew up in Hong Kong learning food as medicine from her Po Po — ginger tea before symptoms appeared, soups for prevention. Now an ICF PCC Body-Oriented Coach (The Somatic School, UK), she bridges East Asian ancestral practices with modern body science — helping women find their way back to themselves, one slow morning at a time.
