East Coast Race Saturday 5th July, River Blackwater. Open and larger boats.

We are grateful once again to  Stone Sailing Club for hosting the East Coast Race on The Blackwater, offering great sailing in the river and approaches. After several years without a small open boat (Class 5) race for what are essentially open MFOB type boats, we have decided it's high time to run that event once more, encouraged by the increase in small boat sailors within the East Coast membership.  So, come on all those Mersea boats, pop down to the SSC as we have made special arrangements to make it easier!!

The event is outlined below. Full detail is provided in the Notice of Race. We hope many of you will arrive on Friday for Registration and socialising before the race on Saturday. 

Note for open boats:  The event follows the Swallows and Amazons in Walton the weekend before. Stone SC have offered moorings for the week for anyone leaving Walton to carry on up the wallet to the Blackwater!! Trailed boats can also be left at Stone Sailing Club for the week.

Race Headlines

Class 1-4 boats will race down the Blackwater and into the Estuary. The smaller Class 5 will race more locally to Stone.
There will a Fish and Chip supper, beer and other drinks and the Prize-Giving in Stone Sailing Club on Saturday night.

Please note - boats racing must have an up-to-date OGA T(H)CF handicap.
Those without will carry a time penalty and be ineligible for trophies.
See this list to check your handicap status. If required you can provide an online handicap form before the event. We will do our best to ensure boats arriving without a handicap can get one but time will be very limited on the day.

High Water at Stone is approximately 0808. The earliest start signal will be at 1030. Small Boats will start after the Big Boats. See the Notice of Race for details of Race Briefings. 
The Prizegiving will be at 1900 in the Stone SC Clubhouse marquee or bar. (East Coast Race Trophy List.) Dinner will be available before this - see below.

All boats racing are required to confirm that they have applied the East Coast OGA Risk Assessment and to provide a ‘Skippers Declaration’ as part of their entry, confirming the Skipper’s details and their acceptance of the conditions of racing. Click on this link to the Skipper's Declaration.
