Stone Point Rally and Pennyhole Bay Race

We will get together for a social weekend over the second bank-holiday weekend in May, with a BBQ at Stone Point. The Pennyhole Bay Race will be held as part of the weekend and there will be time for exploring the Walton Backwaters.

STOP PRESS - the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club are losing their chef but have promised to feed us.  However they have asked us to close the meal booking early so we can give them our meal choices in good time.      The sailing event remains  open

Saturday 23rd May

Boats may anchor off Stone Point or pick up a mooring further up the creek.
There will be a 'bring your own food' BBQ on the beach in the evening, and a barrel of beer generously provided by Hipkin and Oxley, who have taken over the Bedwells yard and moorings.
The Pre-Race briefing for Sunday's Pennyhole Bay Race will be held in the evening.

Sunday 24th May

The Pennyhole Bay Race will be held on Sunday. The exact start time, the start line and the course will depend upon conditions on the day and will be confirmed at the pre-Race briefing. 

Please note - boats racing must have an up-to-date OGA T(H)CF handicap.
Those without will carry a time penalty and be ineligible for trophies.
See this list to check your handicap status. If required you can provide an online handicap form before the event. We will do our best to ensure boats arriving without a handicap can get one but time will be very limited on the day.

After the race we will return to Walton Creek, The Twizzle or Titchmarsh Marina for the evening. The evening will include the Prize-Giving.

The prize-giving will be in the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club where there will also be a dinner for those that want it at £22 per head. You do not have to enter the Rally or Race to join the Dinner - dinner only tickets are available from this link.

Main Course:

• Sausage and mash, creamy mash, greens, caramelised onion gravy;
• Beer battered fish and chips, mushy or garden peas and tartare sauce; or
• Mushroom risotto, poached egg, rocket and parmesan.

Dessert Course:

• Sticky toffee pudding, custard or ice-cream
• Eaton mess with fresh strawberries and mint

Monday 25th May

Some may choose to explore the Walton Backwaters before we all depart.
