Paint scenes around Sidmouth capturing the bustling streets and seafront views of this charming East Devon coastal town. Be guided in good foundation approaches and techniques how to create successful pictures and inspired how to loosen up your artwork & give your watercolour paintings a lively contemporary feel with Ian McManus, internationally acclaimed watercolour master, as your tutor. Ian is particularly well known for painting street scenes bustling with figures and cars that truly bring artworks to life and give them a sense of place. Ian helps students tackle a seemingly difficult subject matter and loosen up their painting style adding details without getting fussy or over working the painting. His 30 years’ experience painting in watercolours and teaching for 2 decades nationally and internationally means Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to his friendly and approachable teaching style. You will work on plein air, on a range of locations nearby the studio to capture local scenes with full access to the studio and its facilities for comfort breaks and some additional tuition to the outdoor painting experience. We shall work from photos indoors if weather is inclement. Attending both days is advisable so you can get the most out of the experience, but you can book the days separate if unable to attend both.
