All About Ponds

Come along to Growing Matters’ kitchen garden to learn more about the garden and in particular their new pond. 

The morning will include:

• Time for members of the East Lothian Biodiversity Collective to connect with one another and share how we can support on another's work. (Please note that this event is open to members of the public as well.)

• Short background to the Growing Matters garden 

• Informal talk by the Growing Matters team on their new large pond which has been established and discussion:

  • How and why a pond was introduced to the garden

  • The key considerations in designing and creating a pond

  • Key decisions that the Growing Matters team took

  • Steps the Growing Matters team took in creating the pond (and emphasising the ‘learning by doing’ approach)

  • Impacts already seen both to Biodiversity and to people

• Visits/tours to other parts of the garden that participants are interested in such as: the wildflower meadow, forest garden, dead wood features, willow structure
