Scots consistently face some of the highest heat and energy bills in northern Europe. At the same time heat from industry and other sources is being wasted.
How can we tap into waste heat energy to lower bills and emissions? And how can community ownership fit into the picture of heat network infrastructure? The Scottish Government has pledged to deliver over 8 percent of heating (6TWh) by 2030 using heat networks; given the combined heat network accounts for less than 2TWh, that’s an enormous leap to make. This workshop discusses the opening for community ownership in this transition to low-carbon, low cost heating and wider regional heat networks.
We are pleased to have Martin Hayman of Lothian Heat to discuss community heat networks and the three-stage process bringing networks to rural communities in East Lammermuir.
As part of South East Scotland’s newly launched Energy Learning Network, the East Lothian Climate Hub is hosting a series of webinars funded by Community Energy Scotland. We invite community heat and energy groups from across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife, and the Borders to get involved and share our knowledge.
