Introduction to Multiplate Lino
Join printmaker Jeremy Speck in the studio for a one-day lino workshop. We will look at the unique properties of linocut printmaking, taking you through the design stage to exploring multiplate techniques.
We will:
– Learn the essential tools and materials for linocut
– Explore how to develop and translate your image into a linocut block
– Understand how to carve safely and print effectively
About the Tutor
Jeremy has over ten years experience teaching linocutting at Double Elephant Print Workshop where he is the principal relief print tutor (linocut & letterpress) and a Director. He has successfully guided many beginners, as well as advanced linocutters through the process. Jeremy’s own work is mostly abstract, using both linocut & screenprint to explore balance and colour through bold shapes and textures.

Materials and equipment: All materials and equipment will be provided.
Clothing: We will be working with inks that do not easily wash out of clothing. Wear old clothes and bring an apron/old shirt etc. as cover-up. Avoid loose, dangly sleeves, which can be a safety hazard.
Food and drink: East Quay Kitchen offers a delicious menu that caters for most dietary preferences, but you are welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks to eat in the studio. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Parking: There is no on-site parking for visitors to East Quay. Harbour Road pay and display car park is convenient but costly. There is unrestricted parking along Doniford Road and other residential streets nearby. East Quay is just a short walk from here via Goviers Lane.
If you have any other questions or would like to speak to Lily, please send her an email at printstudio@eastquaywatchet.co.uk.
