CUES - Coping with Uncertainty in Everyday Situations - A Parent workshop for Parents and Carers St Leonards Family Hub

We recognise that there has been a recent rise in children and young people experiencing feelings of anxiety, which can impact on their quality of life and future outcomes. In response to this, we are offering training for parent/carers to support their children with the feelings they are experiencing.

Researchers at Newcastle University have, in collaboration with parents, developed workshops for parents and carers of children ages between 6-16 years old who have an 'intolerance of uncertainty' which results in feelings of anxiety. These CUES workshops focus on the recognition, understanding and management of the feelings experienced in times of uncertainty. The workshops were designed for parent/carers of autistic children but it is recognised that many children experience these feelings and therefore benefit from the strategies offered.

The CUES© workshops allow parents and carers to gain support from each other and from the group leaders. Each parent carer will be helped to identify a specific everyday uncertain situation to focus on during the CUES© workshop. Strategies suggested during the group will be individually tailored to each child and parent carers can practise using these new skills in their selected target situation.

• Monday 7 December 2026 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Attendance is required at each workshop

Spaces are limited to allocated on a first come, first served basis.  

There are only 10 places available with a waiting list.

Please only book on if you are able to attend all five sessions.

Refreshments will be provided (hot drinks and biscuits).

Unfortunately, babies or children are not able to attend the workshops.
