Description
Hedgehog Experience
Do you know someone who is fascinated by hedgehogs and would like to be a hedgehog carer for a morning?
Or perhaps you have never seen a hedgehog in real life and fancy a gift for yourself?
Then why not buy a Hedgehog Experience!
We are offering people the chance to spend the morning working at WRAS feeding and cleaning some hedgehogs, getting to handle them, as well as learning more about these fascinating creatures.
(Please note, the hedgehogs we have in care will not be hibernating so we can run this experience all year round! The reason they are in our care is because they are unwell, therefore not fit enough to hibernate.)
You can purchase a gift voucher linked below if you'd like to treat someone to the experience but are unsure of their availability.
Alternatively, if you want to book for yourself and secure a date immediately, simply click the 'buy tickets' button located at the top right of this page.
Please note:
Hedgehog experience sessions are only available on Saturdays and Sundays.
New dates will be added regularly so please do check back if there isn't an available date to suit.
If there are less than 4 of you on a session, the sessions might not be exclusive to you and the other tickets would remain available for others to book.
Requirements
Minimum age of 13 and must be accompanied by a full paying adult if under the age of 18.
We are unable to supervise children for you so for every 2 children there must be 1 adult to accompany them.
Maximum group size = 4 people
The day is divided into 3 stages:
Stage 1
Begin with a presentation to explore the challenges that hedgehogs encounter, and discover ways you can assist them, as well as how to identify when they are in distress and require rescue. Refreshments provided.
Stage 2
We will then take a tour of the hospital, where hedgehogs and various other animals receive care. During this visit, we will showcase and explain the methods involved in their care, as well as how the charity operates.
Stage 3
At last, you'll get the chance to assist us with caring for, cleaning, and feeding some of the hedgehogs. You will learn the proper and safe way to handle a hedgehog. However, it's important to keep in mind that they are wild animals, so we should remain as quiet as possible and minimize our handling of them.
