Who is this course for?
Travel professionals who want to learn more about sustainable travel
No previous experience in climate, sustainability or environmental sciences needed. This is for anyone.
What is Carbon Literacy?
Carbon Literacy is a certified learning course to train people on climate change and the actions we can take to positively impact the planet.
A carbon literacy course must have:
- 8 hours of learning.
- Relevance (It must be applicable to you, where you live and what you do)
- Be updated based on the latest data.
- Be practical and focused on future action rather than dwelling on what has already happened (or perhaps what has not happened)
But what sets us (ecollective) apart is that it must be FUN. We are trying to saving the planet after all. It shouldn't be boring.
So there will be plenty of games, challenges, questions and chatter.
Why do this course?
Companies that train their staff on carbon tend to reduce their footprint. (by 5-15% according to research). You will also:
- Spend less time wandering what to do and actually get on with making positive change.
- Confidently talk with customers (and suppliers) about sustainable travel
- Be able to inspire colleagues, suppliers and maybe even customers to start emitting less carbon too.
- Find ways to benefit the finances whilst reducing CO2!
On our course, you'll discover:
- the basics of climate change science
- what’s already happening and what's going to happen.
- The carbon footprint of travel (and how to measure it)
- How to create a carbon reduction plan for your business.
- Examples of how travel companies are already reducing emissions (and what else they can do)
- How to communicate sustainability to lead change (and avoid greenwashing)
All attendees will be asked to:
- Do our pre meet quiz. (Do not worry, there is no pass or fail here)
- Attend two 3-hour online sessions with us.
- At the end of our two sessions together, you'll submit two carbon reduction pledges.
- Once the Carbon Literacy Project gives your pledge the thumbs up, you'll be officially certified "Carbon Literate"!

This Carbon Literacy course comprises 2 online sessions plus some pre and post-course work. Join us on both sessions of a course and submit your post-course pledges to become certified:
- Tuesday 29th September & Thursday 1st October 2026 (10am-1pm UK time)
- Tuesday 27th October & Thursday 29th October 2026 (2pm-5pm UK time) *USA friendly times!
- Tuesday 19th January & Thursday 21st January 2027 (10am-1pm UK time)
- Tuesday 16th March & Thursday 18th March 2027 (2pm-5pm UK time) *USA friendly times!
- Tuesday 11th May & Thursday 13th May 2027 (10am-1pm UK time)

How much does it cost?
Join this course for £320 per person (+ VAT of £64).
