Carbon Literacy for the Travel Industry
Who is this course for?
If you work, want to work or are just passionate about travel and tourism, this course is for you.
No previous experience in climate, sustainability or environmental sciences needed. This is for anyone.
What is Carbon Literacy?
Carbon Literacy is a certified learning course to train people on climate change and the actions we can take to positively impact the planet.
A carbon literacy course must have:
- 8 hours of learning.
- Relevance (It must be applicable to you, where you live and what you do)
- Be updated based on the latest data.
- Be practical and focused on future action rather than dwelling on what has already happened (or perhaps what has not happened)
But what sets us (ecollective) apart is that we also think it should be FUN. We are trying to saving the planet after all. It shouldn't be boring.
So there will be plenty of games, challenges, questions and chatter.
On our course, you'll discover:
the basics of climate change science (no PhD required, we'll keep it simple)
what’s already happening worldwide and in your own backyard
how your actions affect climate change
the tools & knowledge to reduce your carbon footprint at work and at home
how to identify and avoid greenwashing
how to rally your team, colleagues and customers around climate and sustainability
how to build your own climate action plan
How long is your carbon literacy course for travel?
All attendees will be asked to:
Read through our pre meet notes and quiz. (Do not worry, there is no pass or fail here)
Attend two 3-hour online sessions with us.
At the end of our two sessions together, you'll submit two carbon reduction pledges.
Once the Carbon Literacy Project gives your pledge the thumbs up, you'll be officially certified "Carbon Literate"!
Wait, there's more. Why do this course?
Companies that train their staff on carbon tend to reduce their footprint. (by 5-15% according to some research). You will also:
Find you spend less time wandering what to do and actually get on with making positive change.
Find it easier to communicate your companies sustainability plan.
Be able to inspire colleagues, suppliers and maybe even customers to start emitting less carbon too.
What our participants have said...
"Loved it!"
- Nikki, Hyve
“It was very interactive and I felt safe to speak on topics that can be scary and uncomfortable. I really liked that it was realistic, specific, and sector based. Charlie was very engaging, and I liked that he called out greenwashing and other tactics that a lot of other courses/webinars do not address.”
- Allie Coutu, Collette
"10 out of 10. Open and honest dialogue with straightforward language which gives businesses confidence."
- Prue Stone, Hotelplan
