EDAS Future Leaders Network - Meet the Board: Career Journeys in Economic Development

Join the EDAS Future Leaders Network for an informal and interactive ‘Meet the Board’ session, bringing together Future Leaders with members of the EDAS Board to hear about their careers, experiences and lessons learned along the way.

Economic development careers rarely follow a single route. Our panel will share how they first found their way into the profession, the different roles and opportunities that have shaped their careers, what they have learned along the way, and their advice for those at an earlier stage of their own journey.

The conversation will explore questions including:

• How did you get into economic development?
• What has your career journey looked like?
• What have been the most valuable lessons along the way?
• What do you wish you had known earlier in your career?
• What advice would you give to future leaders in the profession?
• What skills and qualities will the next generation of economic development leaders need?

There will also be plenty of opportunity to put your own questions to the panel.

Who is the Future Leaders Network for?

The EDAS Future Leaders Network (FLN) is a community of people who will help shape the future of economic development in Scotland.

It is designed for students, graduates and practitioners in the early stages of their careers – whether you have recently taken your first role in economic development, are studying a related subject, have changed career, or simply want to build connections and learn from others across the profession.

Through the network, Future Leaders can connect with peers and experienced practitioners, access learning and resources, attend networking and development events, and keep up to date with opportunities across the sector.
